Qualititive and Quantitive

There are two methods of me finding out infomation from the audiance on what they would like to see in the music magasine of there choice, these methods being qualititve and quantitive.

Qualitative research is a elongeged and is this way by interviews case studies and more questions in detail being asked. It is more specific than quantative research as the results i get are from the persons point of veiw and how they feel about the subject as more personal questions can be asked than what there could be in questionaires as they are retricted to set answers. it has its negatives as it is more expensive to run and due to the ammount of time and equipment needed, due to this i cant gain as many interviews as I would hope due to the prelonged sessions it will invlove getting peoples in depth opinions.

Quantitive data on the other had in 'short and sweet' it gets strait to the point, this means that more people can asnwer meaning i have a broader range of answers, this will be done in the format of questionnaires, this is a set question with a multiplue choice question where it can be ticked on what they believe is the answer, this is quicker however is has its disadvantages, due to it being set questions and stating small ammount of options for answers they wont be able to give thier true opinion in such a manner as they would so wish however it targets a much wider audiance than qualititve but due to the informalitiy of the format it can be seen to be that the results are tailored to what the designers and market what to hear.
I will be running the quantitive format as i can reach a bigger audiance in a shorter time giving me more time to sit down and analyse the results and make a just decsion on what my outcome will be like.
